TWO police cars have been damaged after they were attacked in separate incidents in the Bradford area.
One vehicle had its back window smashed when a brick was hurled at it while officers were carrying out investigations.
They had parked up the vehicle after attending a report of a car being driven erratically in Springroyd Terrace, Girlington, on Sunday teatime. The damage was caused while they were away from their car.
The second incident, which is unconnected, happened during a police pursuit shortly after midnight on Monday when patrol car officers asked the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf to pull over in Prospect Road, Cleckheaton.
The Golf drove off and police began an authorised pursuit. During the chase, items were thrown from the Golf, including a crowbar which hit the bonnet of the police vehicle and gouged a hole in it.
The Volkswagen, which is believed to have been stolen in a burglary in Leeds, was abandoned in a field and the four occupants made off on foot. They are still being sought.
Inspector Joanne Field, who leads Roads Policing Support, said: "Fortunately no officers were injured in either of these incidents, but they do demonstrate the dangers that officers in West Yorkshire are faced with every day."
