PUDSEY MP Stuart Andrew has backed a woman’s fight to get a vital cancer drug reinstated to a treatment list.
Nicola Wardle, who has suffered from a rare form of stomach cancer called Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST) since 2007, wants regorafenib reinstated to the Cancer Drug Fund list.
The drug regorafenib was approved last year as third line treatment for patients with advanced GIST.
It is a rare type of cancer found in the digestive system, most often in the wall of the stomach.
Regorafenib is used to treat GIST cancer that has become unresponsive to the existing drugs, imatinib and sunitinib.
The Conservative politician said: “I fully support her and GIST Support UK in the campaign they are running to get this vital drug reinstated.
“Regorafenib is of great benefit to those who suffer from GIST and I will do everything in my power to have it reinstated on the cancer drug fund list.”
