STUDENTS from two Bradford schools will take on the region’s best after winning a city heat of a mock trials competition.
Beckfoot School and Belle Vue Girls School finished first and second respectively in the Bradford stage of a national Magistrates’ Court Mock Trials competition. They now advance to the regional heat, to be held in Leeds in May.
Event organiser Mick Richings said: “The standard was very good. It was the biggest heat we have ever put on in Bradford.”
Teams of up to 13 students used witness statements to prepare the prosecution and defence for a specially written criminal case.
They played witnesses, lawyers, magistrates and court officials at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
