BRADFORD MP David Ward has welcomed plans to clamp down on fraudulent whiplash claims and ensure that injured parties get the medical care they need.
Aviva Insurance has published plans to tackle the near-record levels of claims which it states costs motorists £2.5billion, and adds £93 to the cost of average motor insurance.
The package of reforms would give people treatment in-kind rather than cash settlements, ensuring that those only genuinely injured are incentivised to claim.
“The high number of fraudulent and exaggerated whiplash claims in Bradford pushes up the cost of car insurance for everyone, and this is unacceptable,” said Mr Ward.
“This six-point plan would introduce reasonable measures to ensure that those who are genuinely injured get care and support, whilst protecting others from higher premiums.”
