A BRADFORD MP is lobbying for Bradford to benefit from a new high speed rail line for the north, dubbed HS3.
The government is considering plans to build a high-speed line linking Leeds with Manchester as part of its ‘northern powerhouse’ strategy.
But Bradford East MP David Ward (pictured) has this week met with Transport Minister Baroness Susan Kramer to push for Bradford to benefit.
He said: “Bradford is one of the largest cities in the north so it is imperative that any new trans-Pennine high speed rail line will benefit Bradfordians through a direct link or faster connections to nearby stations.
“Bradford is recovering after the impact of the recession with more investment and more jobs coming back to the city, but there is much more to do to secure this recovery.
“Early confirmation of Bradford’s involvement in HS3 will give businesses confidence, making Bradford a more attractive prospect for investment and providing a further economic stimulus to our city.”
