STAR gymnasts Megan Argent and Charlotte Walker from Baildon have balanced and tumbled to their second victory in a county-wide competition.
Megan, 10 and Charlotte, 11 from Hoyle Court Primary took park in the Yorkshire Schools Sports Acrobatics Competition and came first in the Under 11s pairs.
They had to complete a testing routine of balances and tumbles and achieved a score of 8.1 – retaining their title from last year. Both girls attend Saltaire gym club in Baildon and will now compete in the British Schools finals at Stoke in May, said Megan’s mum Nicola Argent.
“They did really, really well. Megan loves gymnastics and is always practising.
“If she’s in the house she never seems to be the right way up!” Mrs Argent said.
“I did gymnastics and competed nationally and so did my mum, who still teaches.
“And Charlotte’s mother was also a gymnast.
“Not only does it keep you fit, it’s also great for co-ordination in other sports and general physical confidence,” Megan's mum Nicola Argent said.
Hoyle Court deputy headteacher Keeley Poole said the girls were really great examples of how hard work led to excellence.
“We are all extremely proud of their achievements in gymnastics.
“They are an asset to our school and show great dedication and commitment to everything they do,” she said.
