PEOPLE in Yorkshire are the most likely in the UK to pay off just the minimum amount on their store and credit cards, with credit experts warning it could hold them back financially in the future.
Figures from Experian reveal that 50 per cent of people across the region believe that sticking to the minimum payments will improve their credit score, compared to a national average of 44 per cent.
Julie Doleman, managing director at Experian Consumer UK&I, said lenders could worry that people who only make minimum repayments were struggling to meet their obligations.
“Knowing what lenders look for when reviewing a credit application is the key to building an excellent credit score,” she added.
