A GROUP hoping to re-open Haworth’s fire station as an emergency services hub has appealed for more volunteers.
Steve Thorpe (pictured), chairman of the Friends of Haworth and Worth Valley Fire Station, said: “We now have a secretary and treasurer, but we’ll have a lot of leaflets to distribute so more volunteers would be welcome.
“We have to consider how we would take over the building – whether we’d lease or buy it, we are looking at all options.
“West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service will hang on to the building for us till June, but after that they need to get it sorted out because it’s costing them money just to keep the building empty. We do have to move fast.”
