THE Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities Gloria De Piero was back in her home city to discuss women’s needs yesterday.

Gloria De Piero visited the Millan Centre in Manningham to meet women and talk about their issues.

She arrived in the city in a pink bus and was heckled by a lone Fathers 4 Children campaigner. He raised questions about the disparity in court decisions over child access which favoured mothers over fathers.

Miss De Piero was joined by Labour’s Bradford West election candidate Naz Shah.

Mrs Shah said: “There are a plethora of issues affecting women, including education, unemployment and women engaging with services and being more included in decision making.”

The venue was apt as the Millan Centre has a client base made up largely of women and girls who attend to learn new skills and advance their societal position.

The MP said: “In 2010 there were no women unemployed in Bradford West and we need to get that back under control.”

Labour offered other policies including child care and clubs for children outside school hours, she said.
