OFFICERS specially trained in dealing with concerns over child sexual exploitation will be in Bradford today as part of West Yorkshire’s response to the first national awareness day over the issue.
Safeguarding officers will be staffing an information stand in the city as part of Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day.
West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns-Williamson (pictured), has also confirmed his support.
Today’s event will include police working alongside local authorities to visit schools and businesses including taxi firms and hotels, to help increase public awareness of how to spot the signs of abuse.
The force is also encouraging twitter users to join a CSE ‘Thunderclap’ on Twitter at noon using the hashtag #CSEDay15.
Assistant Chief Constable Russ Foster said: “In West Yorkshire we currently have a number of major CSE investigations under way and the force is absolutely committed to working effectively with both our statutory partners and third sector organisations to provide support and wrap around care for victims and in doing so maximise opportunities to bring the perpetrators of such horrendous crimes to justice.”
