YOUNG performers at Shipley’s DM Academy have won prizes for reading at a speech and drama festival.
The youngsters triumphed at the Robertshaw Festival in Bingley in categories including comic verse, Bible reading and duologue.
The long-standing festival brings children together to compete for speech, music and drama awards.
Principal Deana Morgan said: “This is only the second year that DM Academy has entered the event and the standards are really high, so we’re thrilled that our talented youngsters did so well.”
Meanwhile, Bingley choir Opus 44 also triumphed at the Robertshaw Festival, landing a trophy for best song for their performance of Las Amarillas.
The choir is holding a singing workshop, on Sunday, May 10, at Bingley Are Centre, when musical director Alison Pryce-Jones will be on hand to help out.
