VIOLET Robinson might be only six years old, but she’s already an accomplished charity supporter after donating her own hair and raising the cash needed to turn it into a wig.
The pupil at Priestthorpe Primary School, Bingley, had grown her hair long but instead of just having a trim, she decided on a full cut to help the Little Princess Trust, which uses donated hair to create wigs for children.
She also set about raising money through sponsorship and has smashed the target of £350 which the Trust has to spend to create each wig, with a total which now tops £400.
Her mother Emma, of The Oval, Bingley, said: “When she decided to have her hair cut, she spoke to a parent in the playground and she suggested donating it. We found the Little Princess Trust and she decided to donate it there. When they get it, it costs £350 to make a wig so we decided to start getting sponsorship."
“She has done brilliantly and has raised more than £400. She is absolutely ecstatic.”
The hair has now been sent and the charity is expected to send a certificate to confirm the contribution Violet's effort has made.
