VOLUNTEERS who have gained qualifications in teaching English to speakers of other languages have had their efforts recognised.
They were presented with certificates at the Sangat Centre, in Lawkholme, Keighley.
A total of 12 volunteers received their certificates form Keighley Central councillor Kaneez Akthar. All the recipients had taken part in a scheme called Talk English, and had attended training classes at Sangat.
A centre spokesman for the community centre said Talk English was funded by the Government’s Department of Communities and Local Government.
“It involves working with people who have a low level of English understanding to help them improve their language skills, their ability to access services and to encourage them to be more involved in the community.
