DISABLED customers at a flagship Bradford supermarket have run out of patience with a mobility problem at the store.
They say the batteries on scooters provided for those who have mobility difficulties run out after a few minutes – leaving them unable to complete their shopping.
And, despite pleas to the Tesco store at Great Horton, shoppers say the situation is ongoing.
Peter Brogan, of Frensham Grove, Great Horton, who goes to the store with his disabled daughter, Sarah, said: “This has been going on for two years now and it is getting really frustrating.”
Sarah Brogan, who has cerebral palsy, uses her own wheelchair to get around the store. But her father is ‘not good on his feet’ after a serious illness and needs a scooter.
“The mobility scooters keep breaking down and we think it is due to battery problems,” said Mr Brogan, 75.
He said other disabled customers have complained.
Tesco spokesman Mark Thomas said: “We’re always conscious of providing our customers with the best possible service and shopping trip.
“Our colleagues in Bradford have been working hard to make sure our mobility scooters are working properly and are serviced regularly. They’re always happy to speak to customers about any issues and we’ll be ordering replacement batteries for our scooters.”
