A NEW campaign is under way to tackle the district’s dog fouling hotspots.
Bradford Council has joined forces with environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy to stage the initiative.
The We’re Watching You venture includes new signs, which are visible after dark.
It follows feedback suggesting that most fouling offences are committed during darkness, when dog owners feel they won’t be seen.
Councillor Andrew Thornton (pictured), the council’s executive member for environment and sport, said: “We know that the public perceives dog fouling to be by far the most unacceptable and dirtiest type of litter."
He added: "We hope that we will see the same positive results as the local authorities which have already signed up to the campaign.”
“The vast majority of dog owners are responsible people, who habitually pick up after their dog and dispose of the poo bags correctly, either in the nearest bin or in their own household waste bin.
“We are thrilled to be working with Keep Britain Tidy and being a part of such a cutting-edge campaign.
“We hope that we will see the same positive results as the local authorities which have already signed up to the campaign.”
