A BRADFORD school is celebrating after winning a national enterprise challenge for the second year running.
Tong High School retained its crown in the National Schools Category of the month-long MicroTyco charity competition, in which teams are given a £1 micro-loan and challenged to turn it into as much money as possible.
With coaching from Deloitte Leeds, Tong pupils managed to turn their seed funding into £5,030.
In last year’s competition, run by the WildHearts Foundation, the school finished third in the global competition after generating £3,657. The money raised will fund 73 micro-businesses in the developing world every year.
Head teacher Stephen Curran said: “I would like to thank the students, staff, Deloitte mentors, and partner organisations who together have worked tirelessly to defend our title.
"This entrepreneurial challenge has once again been a huge success, and we are delighted. The students worked extremely hard on the project, which has enabled them to learn fundamental business concepts.”
