THE owners of a Bradford restaurant visited a local primary school to talk to pupils about their business and Italian heritage.
Leno Massimo, from Mama Mia in the city centre, helped children prepare pizzas during a fun filled visit to Whetley Academy. He was visiting as part of the school's Engage programme, which involves local heroes and community figures speaking to pupils. As well as giving them information about their varied jobs, they give pupils an insight into the different cultures and ethnicities that make up Bradford.
Mr Massimo was joined by his mother Nella, who along with husband Gianni, founded the restaurant over 30 years ago, and the pair gave pupils advice on how to bake the perfect pizza.
Other professionals to have visited include firefighters and police.
Tom Nowakowski, the school's nurture team leader, said: "We invite inspirational people from across Bradford, and among the things we talk about is respect, collaboration and diversity in the city.
"He spoke to children about how important it was to work hard and respect family, and read books.
"The children learn how important it is that different cultures live together and respect one another."
Other guests who will soon be visiting the school include players from Bradford Bulls.
