AN alert resident put out a fire at a neighbour's house in Keighley after spotting flames in the early hours of today.
The man rushed into a terraced property on Red Holt Avenue at about 2am. The fire was in a grill pan that had been left on.
A spokesman for Keighley fire station, whose crews were called to the scene, said a young couple living in the house were watching television upstairs and failed to realise a smoke alarm was going off in the property.
He added: "They think they put the grill on at dinnertime and forgot to turn it off, and then it has finally ignited.
"Luckily, the neighbour was about."
The fire damaged the cooker and a wall. No-one was injured, said the spokesman.
