THE national tour of a play marking the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City fire disaster opens tonight.
The 56 is a stage documentary which pays homage to those who lost their lives in the blaze at Valley Parade in May 1985.
The production is by FYSA Theatre, a Yorkshire-based company founded by a group of Sheffield University students.
It includes three actors recounting testimonies of fans who were there in a documentary style and the production was previewed in Bradford earlier this month.
It will now tour the country visiting seven venues, starting tonight in Barnsley and finishing in Salford in May.
The tour includes a return to the Alhambra in Bradford from April 23 to 25.
Matt Stevens-Woodhead from FYSA said: “The feedback we received [following the preview] was absolutely phenomenal.
“We were thrilled to be giving the story back to the fans and the people we interviewed.”
Tickets for the Bradford dates are available by calling 01274 432000.
All proceeds will be donated to Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford.
