THE SAGA of Steeton’s wrongly-placed street lamp could soon be at an end.
Bradford Council has promised to remove the original pole it placed in the pavement on Skipton Road.
Councillor Adrian Naylor (Ind, Craven) said officers had told him the pole – near the junction with Thornhill Road – would be removed this month.
Earlier this year the original post was positioned near the middle of the pavement instead of up against the wall.
Following complaints, workmen dug-in a second post only feet away, and left the original post in place when they resurfaced the pavement.
Cllr Naylor was told the pole could not be taken away because only the Council’s only suitable vehicle – at least 10ft long – had been committed elsewhere for several weeks. Other vehicles were being repaired.
He said: “I think this was a comedy of errors. The Council should have taken a more investigative approach. We’ve ended up with three or four visits where they’ve done partial work.
