SMUGGLED and fake tobacco and cigarettes worth over £11,500 has been found hidden in secret hiding places all across Bradford.
An operation on National No Smoking Day saw West Yorkshire Trading Standards seizing over 20,000 illicit cigarettes and more than 6kg of illegal hand-rolling tobacco.
The illegal products were found during raids which used sniffer dogs in Bradford, Leeds, Dewsbury and Wakefield.
Many of the seized items were hidden in wall spaces and remote-controlled hidden compartments.
They included counterfeit, non-duty paid and incorrectly labelled cigarettes and tobacco.
David Lodge, head of West Yorkshire Trading Standards, said: “All tobacco is harmful, but the supply of illegal cigarettes seriously undermines the drive to reduce smoking.”
