TOUR makers have been recruited to welcome spectators to the first Tour de Yorkshire international cycle race in May.
After the success of last year’s Tour de France Grand Départ, which attracted nearly 10,000 volunteers and more than three million spectators, Welcome to Yorkshire has asked some of the Tour Makers to support this year’s three-day race.
For the Tour de Yorkshire, a smaller number – just under 2,000 volunteers – will help give a warm Yorkshire welcome to up to one million people that are expected to turn out for the three stages for the race as it weaves its way through the county from Friday, May 1.
