A COMMUNITY arts charity is celebrating the start of a new five-year Big Lottery-funded project providing free creative courses and volunteering opportunities for people living with mental health illness.
The Thrive project, which was awarded just under £200,000, is part of a well-being campaign run by Hive at its studios and workshops in Kirkgate, Shipley.
The idea of the project is to boost self-confidence said its co-ordinator Rachel Lee.
“At the end of each course we celebrate our work in a display, exhibition or event inviting family, friends and professionals to celebrate with us,” she said.
The courses last ten weeks and activities will include sculpture, 3D collage, pottery and Raku firing as well as felt making and aromatherapy products.
