AN independent working party is to examine the way a school’s governing body was sacked en-masse last year.
Governors at Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College were removed in April, after claims they proved a barrier to school improvement.
But a 1,600-strong petition, led by former governor and Bradford councillor Faisal Khan (Ind, Bradford Moor), called for a public inquiry into events surrounding the replacement of the governors with an Interim Executive Board (IEB), which was approved by the Department for Education.
At a meeting of the Council’s Executive yesterday, Council leader David Green said the review would “point out any errors and mistakes in the processes followed at the time, and also any other errors and mistakes other people may have made”, adding: He added: “I hope it is a way forward that all sides of this particular argument will be able to come behind and make their views known to what will be an independent review, and we can all take valuable lessons from it.”
