“We have lived in Baildon since we got married and always liked Station Road. So when we saw building work going on in the grounds of Netherhall ten years ago we jumped at the chance to buy the property once we had seen the plans from the builder,” says Sarah Shaw.
It’s easy to see why Sarah and husband Alex fell for this impressive detached executive home. It’s an excellent family sized home – ideal for Sarah, Alex and their three children, Harriet, Francesca and Lucas – with four bedrooms, one with en-suite, three receptions and, unusually for a modern home, a large, level garden that provides a great deal of privacy.
Being offered with no chain, the accommodation totals around 1,650 square feet of living space which is accessed by remote control gates. This is a shared access leading to the house and double garage, the only other property being the original Netherhall.
The accommodation planned over two floors includes a double height entrance hall, lounge with triple aspect windows, dining room with dual aspect windows, breakfast kitchen, study/ sitting room, WC, utility room and integral access to the garage. On the first floor there is a family bathroom, and four bedrooms including a master suite with an en suite bathroom with bath and shower.
“The mature grounds that the house is set in was the initial wow factor and then as the house was being built we knew the layout was just going to work well for us with the double height entrance hall giving you the wow factor as you walk through the door.2
After living their house for a couple of years Sarah and Alex made some alterations that they thought were needed.
“Internally we had a fireplace made by Medusa Masonry using local stone from the quarry near Guiseley and this open fire provides a focal point for the lounge. Granite flooring has been put in the entrance hall and we have also upgraded the en-suite and family bathroom, as well as the regular painting and decorating of all the rooms.
“Outside we created extra parking and enlarged the patio and a beech hedge was planted. Then it was not long before our family was ready for a dog so gates and fencing were installed to ensure a dog friendly garden and further privacy and security. A hard standing area was created which now houses a well used shed.
“The garden has been fantastic for the kids and up until last year had a large climbing frame as well as a trampoline, but these have all reduced now as the children have got older. It has been a great venue for many children’s parties over the years with room for bouncy castles, giant inflatable slides and paddling pools as well as bonfire parties, summer barbecues and quiet times sitting out relaxing anddrinking wine by the fire pit.”
“Probably the things we will miss most of all would be the lounge, not just for the open fire but it is also such a light room as well and always seems cosy, the en suite as a lovely place of sanctuary and the garden which offers lots of room and has given us so much joy over the years.”
Offered with no chain, this is a much loved family home that is now searching for someone else to take over this mantle.
