A KIND-hearted eight-year-old girl from Bradford is donating her hair to a children’s cancer charity after seeing on television the plight of youngsters stricken by the disease.
Kacie Midgley announced to her mum Joanne that she wanted to help the Little Princess Trust, an organisation that provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair during cancer treatment.
Joanne, of Dene Road in Clayton Heights, said: “She was watching something on TV about it and decided she wanted to cut her hair off and send it to those girls.
“She said she doesn’t need all her hair and asked if she could she give it them. Her hair is down her back – she is going to be cutting ten inches off.”
Hairdresser Joanne will chop Kacie’s hair next month. There will also be a bun sale at Kacie’s school, Home Farm Primary, later this month in aid of the charity. A spokesman for Little Princess Trust said: “What an amazing little girl! Once cut, Kacie’s beautiful hair will be blended with other hair donations and will be made into a wig for a poorly boy or girl.” One wig costs about £350. So far, thanks to her haircut pledge, Kacie has raised £1,187. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/Joanne-Carson1.
