HEALTH and safety investigators are making initial enquiries into an incident where a worker suffered burns in a fire at a car parts manufacturer in Bradford on Sunday.
Crews from Bradford, Odsal and Fairweather Green attended the blaze at Federal Mogul in Ounsworth Street, off Wakefield Road, where some 60 staff were evacuated after a tank full of oil, used in the cooling and hardening of smelted pins, caught fire at about 9.30am.
Flames caused part of the building’s extraction fan system to catch alight and the fire spread to a roof area. Firefighters tackled the blaze using an aerial appliance. It was controlled and made safe by 11am. The injured worker was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment to arm burns.
A Health & Safety Executive spokesman said: “HSE is aware of the incident and is making initial enquiries.”
