A SCAM-BUSTING service is teaching public sector workers how best to help people with dementia.
The Safer (Scams And Fraud Education for Residents) project, run by West Yorkshire Trading Standards, routinely comes to the aid of people with dementia who have been targeted by criminals.
Now two people from the team are holding training sessions for their colleagues in Trading Standards and the West Yorkshire archive service, showing them how they can better serve people with the condition. The one-hour sessions are part of the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme.
In a joint statement, Safer team members Carrie Wilson and Lanson Moore said: “We signed up to be Dementia Friends Champions as we are working with people who may be living with dementia on a daily basis through the Safer project.
“Being Dementia Friends Champions gives us a better understanding of how we can help. We are very proud that the Safer project is part of a growing network.”
