A DRIVER was arrested for allegedly using his car to steal petrol and the vehicle was also seized by police after he was stopped for another matter in Bradford.
Officers in the Heaton area on Sunday were looking for a car involved in a ‘domestic’ incident. They saw the car on Emm Lane and followed it for a short distance.
The driver was detained and officers noticed the number plates had the remains of sticky tape still attached.
That led to further enquiries and officers arrested the driver for an offence of taking petrol without paying in January.
Officers have been in the area patrolling on foot and in vehicles to check for suspicious behaviour and offences such as not wearing a seat belt, which now carries a £100 fine.
Officers routinely offer verbal guidance and sometimes fine people.
