SEVEN students from a Bradford school listened to speeches from famous people at an event to celebrate the hard work of young people in their communities.
The youngsters from Oasis Academy Lister Park attended We Day at the Wembley Arena in London, where guest speakers included award-winning actor Martin Sheen, Nelson Mandela’s grandson Kweku Mandela, and Richard Branson.
Taslima Begum, Umme Habeeba Begum, Saif Hanif, Umar Farooq, Iqra Ahmed, Hamid Khan and Mario Aleksandrov went to the event with associate principal David Keate and art teacher Lisa Griffin.
The We Day events is aimed at bringing young people together to celebrate the actions they are taking in their communities, and also to inspire another year of change by sharing the passion of world leaders and entertainers.
Student Mario said: “It gave me faith and confidence to help people less fortunate than I am.”
