AN ARSON attack destroyed a shuttered clubhouse at a former Cleckheaton bowls club early today in an incident attended by five fire crews.
Cleckheaton and Batley were first to attend the blaze shortly before 3am and found the 30 metre by ten metre brick building engulfed in flames.
The unused building beside the old bowling green in Park View still contained furniture including a full size snooker table, seating and bar fixtures which were all destroyed in the fire.
An aerial appliance from Bradford and crews from Odsal and Brighouse also attended.
A door at the property had been forced open.
Fire investigators and police are treating the incident as arson.
