AN ARTISTIC celebration of Bradford's people and places has gone on display in the city.
Here We Live features work by Bradford-based printmaker Ruth Fettis and includes dresses and prints which tell stories of love and loss.
One of the key pieces in the free exhibition is The City. This 3D model was developed further in a project involving portraits of people living and working in Otley Road, Bradford.
It features images of the Peel Park pub, the former Wapping First School and a derelict mill building in Little Germany.
This piece saw Mrs Fettis and St Helens-based Michelle Wren work with students at Carlton Bolling College in Undercliffe.
The students produced a series of printed portraits and 3D models of shopkeepers on Otley Road.
A host of linocut, which is a printmaking technique, portraits have also been produced by Mrs Fettis, alongside the poem, Majesty, by Bradford-based poet Jane Steele.
The exhibition, held at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, will be officially opened tomorrow between 1pm and 3pm.
This will follow a lunchtime talk by Mrs Fettis, Miss Wren and Otley-based designer/seamstress Jo Palmer, between noon and 1pm.
Another item is Dress of Deep Sorrow, which features love letters inspired by embroidered postcards sent to Mrs Fettis' grandmother by her true love, who fought in the First World War.
Prints produced by Carlton Bolling students and Mrs Fettis are also on display together in shop windows, the community centre and St Augustine's Library on Otley Road.
The students' work are also being exhibited in Cartwright Hall's learning room.
The four-year-old project has been funded by the Arts Council.
Mrs Fettis said: "It has been fantastic, it has really come to life.
"The exhibition is about people and people's history and stories.
"It's all done with our hands, no computers were used with many of the pieces.
"It's about the majesty of everyday people.
"It is a celebration of Bradford. I'm always inspired by living here. It is a good place to be an artist. I have worked with the local community on this project over the last seven years.
"It was great to work with the Carlton Bolling students. They had not worked with printworks before.
"We have taken modern day stories through a traditional old-fashioned medium of printmaking.
"I want to document the people who live in Bradford.
"Everyone of the characters has a story."
Here We Live runs at the Lister Park site until Sunday, April 26.
Mrs Fettis will also hold a workshop at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery on Thursday, April 2, between 10.30am and 2pm. It will feature a linoprint on different surfaces. To book a place, priced £10 each, call 01274 431212.
