MORE THAN 170 people have queued outside a new Aldi store for its first day of opening.
The first 100 of the early risers were given a ‘golden ticket’ at the new Silsden store entitling them to prizes which included shopping vouchers, a robot vacuum cleaner and shopping bags full of goodies
Claire Cooper walked away with the star prize of a 24-inch LED TV and DVD combo after queuing from 10pm the night before. Ella-May Thornber won £200 worth of Aldi vouchers.
To coincide with the opening, Aldi has sponsored Silsden Juniors Football Club’s annual competition, which involves more than 100 teams from across the north.
Aldi Silsden will also be providing healthy snacks to the Stay and Play class at the Daisy Chain Children’s Centre to support the centre’s healthy-eating approach.
Aldi said its new store in Silsden would create more than 25 jobs, and would offer around 1,350 product lines and 3,000 ‘Specialbuy’ lines each year. The store has 114 parking spaces.
Aldi store manager Dean Holtom, said: “We’ve had some very positive feedback following the opening, and I hope this encourages new customers to visit their local store.”
