A TOP author visited a Bradford primary school after its pupils proved they were some of the district’s most dedicated readers.
Keelham Primary School had the highest number of children complete last year’s summer reading challenge, which encourages children to read six library books over the summer holidays, with 18.9 per cent of pupils completing.
To reward their efforts, pupils were visited by author Andrew Newbound yesterday.
Head teacher Debra Butler said: “We’re really proud of them for doing so well in the challenge. They had a great time.
“Andrew did puzzles with them about words and what you didn’t know about them..
“The reading challenge was in the summer, so we encouraged children to take part, but the real thanks goes to the parents and both Thornton and Denholme libraries.”
Mr Newbound has been visiting six schools in the district this week, all to congratulate them for their performances in the reading challenge.
