BRADFORD’S newest brewery has taken delivery of its brewplant, marking the return of the industry to the city centre after 50 years.

The kit, which includes seven large stainless steel vessels, can make 16,000 pints a week. It was manufactured in Fort William, Scotland, by Oban Ales and delivered to Bradford Brewery off Westgate and Rawson Street yesterday.

Head brewer Steve Crump said: “It’s nice to have it here. I can’t wait to get it in place and start making beer. There’s going to be a lot of creativity involved in this.”

The equipment was carefully unloaded by Mr Crump and the managing director of the Bradford Brewery and onsite pub, The Brew Factory, Matthew Halliday.

“It was very nerve-wracking. They’re very, very expensive pieces of metal. I’m glad to see them all on the ground now and I’ll feel a lot better when they’re installed,” Mr Halliday said.

He said installing the brewplant should take a week or so. The brewery has been brewing off site ready for its opening, which it hopes will be in time for the next Bradford City FA Cup match.
