HIPPERHOLME Grammar students are celebrating their swimming success in the home of the London 2012 Olympics.
Myles Stirk, Charlie Kershaw, Harrison Layden-Fritz, Jack Wilcock, Lia Brehmer and Victoria Spires travelled to London to take part in the Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) national swimming finals at the Aquatics Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where the Olympic swimmers competed.
Myles Stirk won the U16 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle, setting a new national record for the 100m freestyle.
Myles also achieved silver in the U16 freestyle relay and U16 medley relay. Jack Kershaw won silver in the U16 freestyle relay and U16 medley relay. Charlie Kershaw and Harrison Layden also took medals. took bronze in the U14 50m breaststroke and in the U14 freestyle relay; Harrison Layden Fritz also achieved bronze in the U16 100m backstroke, silver in the U16 medley relay and U16 freestyle relay, and Lia Brehmer and Victoria Spires clinched sixth place in the U14 medley relay.
