A GROUP of Bradford model boat enthusiasts say they will not be beaten despite their clubhouse being targeted by vandals for the second time in just three months.
Members of the marine section of Bradford Model Engineering Society have used the boating lake at Bradford Moor Park, off Killinghall Road, for at least the last 80 years.
After their pavilion was broken into in November, when around £1,000 worth of boats and equipment was said to be stolen, members arrived on Sunday morning to find a fire door had been forced open and the building ransacked.
A sink had been ripped off the wall, doors smashed off their hinges, and glue and resin poured all over the floor.
Peter Nurse, boating commodore for the society, said a bandsaw and a screwdriver kit had also been taken by whoever broke in.
"The tidy-up is going to be a long job for us," he said.
"We work with the council to maintain the building, and will be looking to reinforce the fire doors to tighten security.
"We won't let whoever did this grind us down."
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed they had attended the scene just before 10.30am on Sunday.
"We were called to the park following reports the boathouse had been broken into," said the spokesman.
"The door had been forced open and damage caused inside.
"There were also some power tools which appear to have been taken from the building.
"We believe the incident took place between 2.30pm on January 22 and 10am on January 25, and would ask anyone with any information to contact police on 101."
