A 70-YEAR-old woman has admitted defrauding her brother – who she was also a carer for – out of more than £32,000.
Pensioner Joan Gillhespey, of The Oval, Gilstead, was expected to safeguard the financial interests of Paul Thompson, Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court was told yesterday.
Instead, the court heard, between December 1, 2005, and April 30, 2013, Gillhespey (pictured) dishonestly abused her position and pocketed £32,297 for herself.
Gillhespey, who was supported by a walking frame when she attended court, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position. Her case was committed for sentence at Bradford Crown Court on February 24.
