A FORMER prep school has been put up for sale.
Malsis at Cross Hills closed at the end of last year after the collapse of a proposed merger with Giggleswick School.
Now the Grade II-listed building – located in a 32-acre campus including playing fields, outbuildings, a small golf course and lake – is on the market.
And the former school’s assets, ranging from trophies and grand pianos to catering equipment and stage props, are being auctioned off online.
John Padgett – for Leeds chartered surveyor Eddisons, which is handling the sale – said the firm was committed to finding an “appropriate” buyer for the site.
“This is a wonderful property within extensive grounds and we will be working as hard as we can to find a buyer who will be sympathetic to its history and respectful of the wishes of the local community,” he said.
“A number of interests have already been registered.
“Any future alternative uses will be subject to planning and will need to be sensitive to the property’s setting. It will be important, however, to secure a viable and economic use to protect the health of the buildings.”
The assets auction, now live at eddisons.com/online, features 1,400 lots.
It runs until February 4 and 5.
