AN UNINSURED and unlicensed motorist, who took a car without permission, drove like an “idiot,” ignoring police warnings to stop.
Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that Muhammed Ali, 25, drove a Renault Megane around Heaton, Manningham and Girlington, at “ridiculous speeds” where there were pedestrians and children with bikes.
Ali, of Arnold Place, Manningham, ignored junctions and road markings, went through a red light, drove on the wrong side of the road and swerved causing other vehicles to get out of his way.
Jailing him for 14 months, and disqualifying him for two years, Judge Jonathan Rose told Ali, who admitted dangerous driving and had a previous similar conviction, he believed he was above the law. No-one had been injured. Judge Rose said: “You had no right to get behind the wheel of a car.”
