THE Telegraph & Argus Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal has been boosted with £1,000 from the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.
Each year the group, which meets weekly in Thornton, supports different charities. Last year’s chief officer, Peter King, chose to support our £1 million charity drive.
“Last year for me it was cancer charities and the Crocus Appeal is the local one,” he said. Mr King had lost his wife to cancer and wanted to help the fight to find a cure.
He also donated £300 to the Annette Fox Leukaemia Research Fund based at Bradford Royal Infirmary. The money was raised through a sponsored walk, cycle and hike of one of the Three Peaks and a garden party.
The Crocus Cancer Appeal is a joint fundraising campaign with the University of Bradford, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust to help researchers study cancerous cells faster. Visit telegraphandargus.co.uk/crocus to find out more.
