POLICE say they were responding to a 999 call when they were snapped parking on double yellow lines in Queensbury.
A photograph of a police car parked on double yellow lines off High Street was shared on a Queensbury Facebook page and attracted numerous angry responses.
The post claimed the officer was only there to deal with a loose “For Sale” sign attached to the wall of a property when they were caught on camera on Monday afternoon.
One comment on the post said: “Police constables are supposed to uphold the law, not break it.”
But a West Yorkshire Police spokesman told the Telegraph & Argus the car had been sent out to respond to a 999 call about an ongoing burglary in High Street, and said: “Officers are allowed to park on double yellows in response to an emergency.”
Officers found out the call had been a false alarm.
