SOCIAL housing landlord Incommunities is set to build almost 350 homes across the district in the next three years as part of a commitment to creating more affordable homes.
The organisation is seeking permission for 44 new family homes on the Ravenscliffe estate which is connected to a wider redevelopment of the area.
The plans are for an area of land at Hallwood Green and Norbury Road, and include two, three and four bedroom homes for social rent.
It follows initial planning permission which was granted in 2009 for 80 homes and outline permission for up to 360 houses.
Now Incommunities has applied for the latest phase to Bradford Council, and a decision is expected by April. If successful, work could start in the spring.
The homes would be built in two phases, with the first containing 26 homes, and the second being 18. The scheme also involves extending Hallwood Green up to meet Ranelagh Avenue.
An Incommunities spokesman, said: “We have submitted plans to build 44 two, three and four bedroom homes off Hallwood Green and Norbury Road. These would be for social rent and constructed in two new phases.
“The latest phase is on site (phase three) and on completion will have delivered a total of 244 homes in the area for rent through Incommunities and for outright sale through developers.
“Subject to planning approval, work on the two new phases is planned to start in spring 2015 and will continue our commitment to deliver more affordable homes for local people."
As part of the phase three works which are in progress on site Incommunities has taken over ten units for rent from Keepmoat, while the housing firm is now building its units which will be for sale.
In the earlier phases of work, Incommunities has 51 homes to rent from phase one, and 28 from phase two.
Consultation on the planning application runs until February 10, and there are so far no objections to the scheme. Statutory consultee The Forestry Commission has already confirmed it has no concerns over the site.
The Incommunities spokesman added: “Over the next three years we are building 346 homes across the district supported by the Homes and Communities Agency’s Affordable Homes Programme.”
