LIBERAL Democrat peer Baroness Kath Pinnock of Cleckheaton has given her maiden speech in the House of Lords.
She said: “In Kirklees, a total of £152 million of spending on services is being taken out of the budget between 2011 and 2018. With school budgets being ringfenced and my council, rightly so, protecting as far as possible services to vulnerable adults and children, cuts fall on the other services on which people rely.”
Baroness Pinnock said hand-wringing “may be satisfying but it won’t get us very far”.
