DENHOLME town council is promoting ‘dementia friendliness’ with a special awareness afternoon on Wednesday.
It is working with the Alzheimer’s Society, Denholme Patient Participation Group and Thornton & Denholme GP Practice by holding a free event from 3-5pm at the Mechanics Institute.
There will be a talk by Dr Sara Humphrey, a local GP and GP Advisor to the Yorkshire & Humber Dementia Strategic Clinical Network, a talk by Cathy Henwood from the Alzheimer’s Society and a short film about what it is like to have dementia.
Then participants will discuss what can be done in the village to help people with dementia and how shops and businesses can help too.
Carers Resource will also be present and the team from Bradford Royal Infirmary who work with people with dementia.
