BOGUS workmen tricked their way into West Yorkshire fire service headquarters in Birkenshaw and stole a trailer and generator.
Three men claiming to be contractors entered the compound off Bradford Road at 3.41pm on January 12. They left eight minutes later with the trailer and generator attached to their white Ford Transit van.
PCSO Kay Sharp, of Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The generator has the word Whispagen written across the top and is West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service-branded so is identifiable as belonging to the fire service.
"We would urge anyone who has seen or been offered for sale such a generator to give us a call. We would also like to hear from anyone with information about the van involved and are making enquiries to trace the registered owner."
Anyone with information that could help the investigation can call Batley and Spen NPT on 101.
