A LOCAL neighbourhood friends group has been busy sprucing up a neglected stretch of road on the southern edge of Keighley.
Members of Friends of Damems West teamed up to improve a stretch of Damems Lane, near the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s Damems Station.
Group spokesman and founding member Carol Owlett, who lives in nearby Bracken Bank, said: “We’ve had a Community Chest grant from Bradford Council and an Acorn grant from Keighley Town Council.
“We focus on the western end of Damems Lane, from the top of the cobbled road down to the nature walk.
“It was in quite a bad state and very overgrown – it hadn’t been looked after properly for years.”
The volunteers had brought along their own tools to trim back overhanging trees and are hoping to gain funding to resurface a footpath.
People can contact the friends group or find out more details about its activities via its Facebook page.
