BRADFORD Council officers are exploring the possibility of buying Haworth’s closed fire station and using it to replace the village’s rundown community centre.
The news was revealed at the latest meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.
Bradford Council has declined to comment on whether it is thinking of buying the fire station for use as a community centre, adding that it is looking at a number of options and that it was too early to provide details.
Worth Valley ward councillor Rebecca Poulsen said she was aware of an informal, suggestion that the closed fire station premises could accommodate the community centre’s activities.
People with an interest in the wellbeing of Haworth Community Centre have been invited to attend a meeting at West Lane Baptist Church at 7.30pm on January 28.
