THE Football Association will present a cheque for £25,000 to Bradford’s burns research unit at the Bantams’ FA Cup clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
It is part of an appeal to raise £300,000 to help finance the work of the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford and mark the 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire.
The £25,000 is a donation from the Premier League.
Also, the Bold Privateer pub in Wrose, Bradford, has raised £2,620 towards the appeal, which Barclays will match, with a fundraising event last month.
The pub’s licensee Angela Briscoe (pictured), will present the money to the unit on February 7 alongside Mick Bland, who received the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery for his heroics in saving people from the fire, former City coach Gary Stokes, and Vicky Carroll, of Barclays, who helped with fundraising.
