AN ELDERLY man suffered a cut to his head in a scuffle with a burglar at his home in Bradford.
The 87-year-old and his wife were at their home in Whitehead Place, Fagley, at about 4pm yesterday when they heard a noise.
He went to investigate and found a man wearing dark clothing. There was an altercation and the intruder ran off empty handed through the rear patio door.
Police said the elderly man suffered a small cut to his head, but did not need hospital treatment.
The intruder is described as a black or Asian male, believed to be aged in his 20s, of athletic build, and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall.
Detective Inspector Richard Partis, of Bradford District CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw a man of similar description acting suspiciously in the area in the time leading up to, or shortly after this incident.
"It is possible this man may have been trying door handles at other properties in the area, so we would advise people to keep their doors and windows locked at all times, even when they are at home."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
